Apple and Nike have been together with each other since a fairly long span of time. Both the companies have relied on each other in terms of products and services but now it seems that the future of this collaboration seems extremely blurry.According to latest Apple news, the tech giant recently launched Activity and several Fitness Apps for its smart watch "Apple Watch". This launch indicates that the company might not need Nike anymore signaling that the collaboration between the two companies might come to an end. This is apparently very sad for all those who were introduced by Apple to the Nike running and fitness platform and ever since then they have be caught up by the charisma of the company. The story behind Nike and Apple's collaboration dates back to 2006 where both the companies united to launch Nike iPod Sports Kit. The former worked on sports apparel and merchandizes as well as a platform to log in users whereas the latter worked on sensors and technologies that kept track of the activities. Many considered NikeiPod to be a classic love story which provided users with a whole widget solution. The company succeeded in integrating hardware and software smoothly. Thus, each time a user synchronized his iPod with the company's iTunes, the data run of the individual was uploaded when the Nike's website was opened. However, this love relationship came to an abrupt halt in 2008 when Nike unveiled its SportBand. This new band did not require an iPad or iPod any further to keep track of the runs. Apart from this the company also revealed Nike GPS which was an imminent threat to Nike app on iPhones. However, during this period both the companies did not cheat each other and things were pretty smooth. This was done by Nike limiting its focus to iOS users and not taking any other OS into consideration whereas Apple constantly motivated users to log in on Nike. As reported by the latest Apple news, things started to get out of the hands when Nike decided to launch its app for Android users. This was the beginning of the rough patch between both the companies. Things pretty much remained the same since Apple was dependent on Nike and not much harm could be done to it. However, things have changed to a great extent now since Apple does not need Nike anymore since it now has a bunch of its own fitness apps. It's now time for Apple to take all its revenges and sideline Nike since this is what the latter did to the former earlier

Sorry Apple Watch I'm Just Not Ready to Settle Down Yet
Should I wear my Apple Watch today? I dunno - how far are we going to be walking? If like me you are enthusiastic about wrist watches, then it's very difficult to restrict yourself to a collection of just one -but that's what Apple want you to do.Watches do not have to be expensive to be interesting or visually appealing - I love my plastic Casio F-91W that was less than twenty quid as well as the more traditional mechanical watches in my modest collection. And I wear them all. Some more than others for sure, but they all get worn and different watches suit different occasions (that's one of the things watch enthusiasts tell ourselves to justify buying more watches by the way)I also confess I am an Apple junkie. I love my MacBook and my iPhone, but as much as I want an Apple Watch, I am not prepared to sacrifice my existing watch collection to do so.It's all because the Apple Watch is such an selfish and intolerant mistress; it wants to be the the only watch you own and certainly the only watch you ever wear. The eco-system of health, fitness and notifications it brings, if you buy into it (and why have an Apple Watch if you do not ?), means you can not take a day off to spend some time (no pun intended) with another watch. God forbid you miss accounting for some steps! In the past you might think, I will wear such and such a watch because it's a dressy occasion, or another watch because it is waterproof, or another because you are travelling abroad and want a Timezone function. As an Apple Watch owner the only scenario you will wear another watch is if you are NOT going to be moving around much; I broke my leg and have to remain in the house for 6 weeks - ah I will wear my Rolex !So much as I love what an Apple Watch can do, I am not ready to settle down yet, it just demands too much, I want to play the field goddamn it, there's nothing wrong with that, I am not even 50 yet!
Imagen: File (vÃa Futura FM)Originally published at fangeekcol.com on April 20, 2016
Apple Music needs a force-upload option (or equivalent)
Most people do not have 40,000 MP3s anymore, unless you are my Dad. You see, my Dad is a music enthusiast, and ex-party DJ, so he has amassed quite the collection of music over the years. This collection includes rarities, alternate versions, region-specific masterings of albums, you name it. This presents some challenges when he uses Apple Music. To understand the issue here, let me first break down the three distinct services involved...iCloud Music LibraryUtilized by Apple Music and iTunes Match to centrally manage your music so it can be accessed from all your Apple devices. No direct cost for the functionality, but storage limitation of uploaded songs depends on your iCloud Drive plan (5GB free by default). Apple MusicThe streaming service with access to the Apple Music catalog of songs. Also includes iTunes Match built in (see below).90-day free trial | Individual: $9.99 per month | Family: $14.99 per month (up to 6 users) | Student: $4. 99 per monthiTunes MatchSeparate service that makes only your existing library available on other Apple devices by attempting to match your songs to ones available in the iTunes catalog. If no matches are found, your songs are uploaded for streaming to iCloud Music Library.$25 per yearOkay, now with that confusion out of the way, let's get back to my Dad's problem. In one recent case, he could not get the mono version of The Beatles box set to upload into iCloud Music Library, because Apple Music used iTunes Match to "match" his mono tracks with the stereo versions already available on Apple Music. For a music enthusiast, this is a big problem. There are workarounds, such as altering the name of a song or its album, but it should not have to come to this. To sum it up: Apple needs to accommodate my Dad and other users like him by means of a force-upload option, or a way to omit songs from being matched.I have been using Apple Music since it launched in June 2015, so I've seen the growing pains firsthand. Granted, the service is much better since then, there's still some low-hanging fruit for it to have that Apple touch.
