Police have hit out at one man who put his life on the line for a cheap thrill in flood waters today.nWhile most us were huddling indoors to try and avoid todays deluge of rain, one person took to Ballarats torrent waterways in a daring act.nEquipped with nothing but an inflatable air mattress, the daredevil tested out his sea legs along what appears to be the Yarrowee River.
nWearing a pair of boardshoots, shoes and a hoody, the man took to the water in search of some thrills.nFilmed by his mates, he can be seen unsteadily getting to his feet onboard his questionable vessel as he is cheered on.nAnd while the activity is not illegal as such, police strongly advise against it.
nBallarat Police Acting Inspector Neil Robinson strongly warned against such behaviour.nYou dont know whats underneath the water or how quickly the situation can change, he said.nWe wouldnt encourage anybody engaging in these activities.
nThe State Emergency Service also strongly advises against going anywhere near floodwaters.nA warning on its website says:nNever enter or travel through floodwater. This includes walking, driving, riding and playing in floodwater, it reads.
nEntering floodwater is the leading cause of death during floods.
