To keep us toasty in the cold winter months, many of us invest in a warmer duvet. In our experience, we have found that most people opt for either a 12 tog duvet or 13.5 tog duvet although it is possible to buy higher tog duvets if you have an older home or suffer from the cold. Here are some reviews of the best winter duvets we have come across in UK:
1. Where can I find cheap but stylish duvets covers?
try: homesense walmart sears any comercial store really but try shopping aound and reading ads. hope i could help.
2. Who makes very well-insulated, warm, tasteful wool winter coats that don't look like duvets with sleeves?
Try J Crew
3. Have you ever bought Verimark/Glomail that actually worked?
I bought those 'Space Saver' thingamabobs. For duvets, blankets etc. They work to a certain extent but they must have used a super duper turbo power vacuum cleaner nobody can buy off the shelf; to extract all the air in THAT advertisement. My attempts do not come anywhere near their results. It is obviously due to the pathetic suction of my 'industrial' vacuum cleaner
4. What are 10 crafts you can do that are time consuming and have a purpose?
1 Scarves 2 Handbags ( buying a plain bag then decorating with badges, buttons etc.) 3 Gloves/mittens 4 Arm/legwarmers 5 Sweaters/dresses (make your own clothes) 6 Felt dolls/ little toys (as gifts?) 7 Book coverings (school/notebooks) 8 Rugs or duvets 9 Necklaces /bracelets /rings 10 Clothes for chihuahuas (sorry, I ran out of ideas =)
5. Can you bring feather pillows and duvets (comforters) into australia?
Chloe, you mention two items that will get the interest of quarantine. Those being feathers, and South Africa. With South Africa, Australian Quarantine Services, are looking at protected species, and it is known South Africa do not use goose feathers. Britain accepts South African products, the Australians are not that accommodating, when it comes to world listings of protected species. Chloe, let me give you a tip. Australia specially in Sydney, you can buy feather stuffed pillows and comforters. I bought a comforter in Sydney thinking I was going to need one. In the two and a half years I was there, I did not even unwrap it. Australian weather or climate is not like in Britain and Canada. I can tell you, I have still got that comforter, and I use it in our winters back home. Mine has the Australian flag motif.
6. Are blankets better than duvets?
Its a matter of preference. I use duvets encased in washable cotton covers. At our house, this has eliminated the need for top sheets and bedspreads. I now find tucked in sheets too restrictive. I also like that a quick shake of the duvet and the bed is made.Duvet also makes it easy to refresh the decor. A new cover and pillow cases, and a different look. Are blankets better than duvets?.
7. Why are there duvet covers but no duvets?
You are shopping in the wrong stores!
8. Please help! I have a twin featherbed and I cannot seem to find a Duvet?
Try a place called The Company Store online. They sell them in red, blue, green, and some other pastel colors, but no prints. The reason you are having trouble is that featherbed covers--and featherbeds--are meant to cover only the top of the bed area itself, the 39-75 inch area that is the same size as the featherbed topper is. They are meant to lay on, not meant to cover the bed and the person laying on top of it, like a coverlet or blanket does. So they are smaller and shorter, made just to cover the flat surface on the top of the mattress. Duvets are meant to hang over 3 sides of the bed, at both sides and bottom, and to cover a person lying in the bed as well, like a blanket. Thus the extra inches you refer to, that the duvet covers have, are needed for that. They are two separate things and do two separate things, so that's why you are not finding what you are needing for your featherbed, by looking at duvet covers. If you can sew, you can alter a larger duvet cover to fit your smaller featherbed/bed topper. Or, use printed King or Queen size bed sheets and cut and sew them to fit it.That may be the best way to get the look you want.
