A properly aligned Xenon headlight should not necessarily dazzle as it should point downwards and right itself if on crests of hills. They also provide a safety advantage to the driver.... BUT.... One of the main drawbacks of the 4x4 design is the higher headlights. And many MOT places may not spot the misaligment of bulbs. And the Kevs who try to achieve the Lexarse lights look often get the cheap high intensity halogen bulbs with a blue tint as they are "just as good as Xenons", but are in reality a dazzle-fest. Therefore - Xenons = one thumb down from me.

The box is probably a voltage regulator, LED's usually don't take 12v like whats in the car, so the boxes reduce the voltage to run them safely. I probably would not get them, they may not be as bright as the originals, I would look at the sylvania silverstar lights, or other replacements instead, unless the reviews on the LED are very good. LED technology is still advancing...

LED bulbs produce a much different light pattern than halogen or even xenon lights, theyre very directional and need special lenses and headlight assemblies to make them project light properly and not scatter it everywhere.

I dont know why you people insist on that crap when the car never came with it. the dealer had to meet DOT standards when they chose lighting, so dont go messing it up with something thats not going to work.

Its the wrong parameter.The problem is their blueness, not their brightness. Blue light scatters far more strongly than yellow, both off dirt on a windscreen and off imperfections on and within a natural eye. So LED headlights dazzle an oncoming driver far worse than halogen bulbs do, even if less bright. The spectrum of headlights should be regulated. In some countries, a yellow filter is mandatory - a good idea in my book. At the very least, no headlight should be allowed, that is more blue than a normal unfiltered halogen bulb. Regular! I have night blindness and it creates a halo around lights- the Led's make it impossible for my eyes to adjust quickly so it is kinda scary for me!

No! Do not drill holes in the headlamps, it will only make things worse. Best thing is to check the seals around the bulbs and make sure the lens is sealed to the body of the headlamp housing. You can run a thin bead of silicone around the headlamp where the lens meets the housing. If the bulb seals are bad, check to see if the dealership can get new ones (likely a dealer-only item). Drilling holes into the housing will only let more moisture in and make the problem worse. You want to keep moisture out, not let it in.

They make it very hard for me to see the road properly sometimes. I drive a little butt dragger, and when an SUV heads toward me me with it's LED lights, I have to slow to a crawl because the light is right in my eyes. Maybe SUVs.and trucks shouldn't be allowed to put them on.
