Google "iPhone 3.1.2.ipsw" and download and make sure the file extension is .ipsw I have a mac also and every iphone OS is .ipsw so make sure it is ipsw. Once your .ipsw has finished downloading, set your ipod in "recovery mode" NOT DFU mode. (to put it in recovery mode hold down the home button and connect the cable to your iphone while holding the home button, the release the home button) then itunes should say, "itunes has found an iphone is restore mode, you must restore this iphone...." and then while holding down the option key and select the 3.1.2.ipsw you downloaded and the restoration should start.

6. Iphone 3G with ios 4.1?

They are running a newer iOS than 4.1 at the moment. I updated a couple of weeks ago and I'm running on iOS 4.3.3.

Honestly there is no difference in speed from the iOS 3 to the 4.3.3 that I'm running at the moment.

I have noticed that the system now is better about reallocating memory when you close apps down, I downloaded a memory manager and after I closed down the apps (double-click the button, press and hold one of the icons at the bottom, tap the red circle with the line through it) with the old iOS I would have to let it clear and defrag the ram. After going to 4.3.3, I don't have to run that application anymore.

Based on the error message it gave you, it seems like you have the iPhone 2G software on your iphone. This can be determined by the file name. "iPhone 1,1" is 2G and "iPhone 1,2" is 3G. Just open iTunes, click on your iphone when it shows up in the left side pane, and there should be an option to restore it. Hold down the shift button while clicking restore and it should allow you to choose a file. Choose the "iPhone 1,2_2.2" file you were using to try to jailbreak your iphone. Once it finishes, try to jailbreak it again. Hope this helps.

You will have to wait for a new unlock. There is NO unlock for 4.1, because ultrasn0w doesn't work on 4.1.

Downgrading won't help either, because once you have restored or updated to the stock Apple 4.1 firmware your baseband is permanently updated.

I feel bad if you used to have it unlocked but then updated to 4.1.... should have read that there's no 4.1 unlock yet.

Technically yes, the iphone case would fit around the ipod touch. However it would most likely be bulky and big on the ipod touch. Iphones, whatever generation, are naturally thicker then the ipod touch. So while they both may look the same size if you lay them next to each other, when you turn them on their sides the iphone is thicker. Also keep in mind that the iphone has a camera so you'd probably have a spot for a camera, even though the ipod touch does not have a camera.

If I were you I'd just buy/find an ipod touch case because iphone cases are different then ipod touch ones

They aren't rumors, it was a statement from the iPhone Dev Team, who makes the jailbreaking tools, they chose to skip 4.0.2 because it would lead to more cat and mouse games with Apple, however they are doing a 4.1 jailbreak right now, so far they have gotten it working (permanently I might add) however they still need to make a tool that makes it so anyone can use it to jailbreak. The Jailbreak's name is SHAtter.
