A man accused of leading the gang-rape and murder of a female student on a Delhi bus died in prison after being raped and abused by other inmates, his family claimed yesterday. Prison officials said that Ram Singh, the 34-year-old driver of the bus, had been found hanging in his cell at Tihar jail just before dawn yesterday. They said that he used a noose made of material stripped from his prison mattress that he had tied to a metal ventilation grille above his door.
