Go to your local college or community college. They may or may not off a seminar. Often the instructor would be more the happy to let you sit in on some classes to give you and overview
1. anywebsite where i can learn about lathe and how to use it?
As those above have said, you do not decide to become a gunsmith, and start in business the same day! You are going to need training by a qualified gunsmith, or an engineer with an interest in guns at the very least, guns are after all machines. In my case, it was 5 years as an apprentice, working for pennies, followed by one year as an improver (journeyman) and even then a gunsmith would not employ you, unless you were exceptional at your trade. It's a long, hard slog, best of luck to you.
2. what is mean by high end lathe machines?
Typically, an average lathe will tend to error around .008 inch for a skilled user. On a high precision lathe, this tollerance will go to around .0005 inch. The lathe will be controlled with servos, typically, and a program instead of by manual handwheel or digital setpoints.
3. How much does a lathe cost?
This Site Might Help You. RE: How much does a lathe cost? I am looking to buy a metal lathe for a reasonable price. Can someone show me a good one please (looking for the one that's built onto a table so you can change speeds with the belts)
4. Which is best available lathe for engineering students?
There is not a simple, single, specific answer except one:The best you can afford.Considerations like size and condition play into it: if it's going to live under a kitchen table a 12" South Bend wo not do.My suggestion, given all that is to find an old machine with decent tooling that needs mechanical attention. Nothing builds skill quite like restoring one
5. if you own a lathe you can answer this?
drill press is your best bet if you can not set it up with a drill press you certainly wo not be able to do it with a lathe but yes you can use a wood lathe for this purpose just use a metal bit for it
6. What is step turning in lathe operation?
It is the operation in which material is removed from outer surface of the bar to convert it into stepped bar. Thus, turning of bar to different diameters for a specific length, is known as step-turning.Checkout this question/figure to get clear idea:What is step turning in lathe operation?.
7. Is there such thing as a wood lathe that isn't equipped for open faced turning?
I looked up your model number. It's actually your manufacturing number. That's why you are not finding much about it. It's actually 113 23800 for a model number. That should help. Your product is from 1974 I think, if I looked it up correctly. The spindle is threaded. So your faceplate is threaded on. You are just going to have to work harder at getting it to come off. Good luck!
8. Methods of creating woodwind instruments without a lathe
You can also make them in sections, like a clarinet. For example, you could carve out the bell section by hand. When the bell is done tapering, this would be the end of the section. You could then carve the end into a smaller diameter, and glue some thin cork onto it. The next section would have a female end for the corked section to slide into. By doing this, you eliminate the need to glue the whole instrument together, and you can even experiment with mixing and matching sections that you carve with the same diameter ends. Just be sure that when you are carving the female ends, you carve a little at a time so that the opening is not too big for the male ends
9. When do you use a chuck vs. a faceplate on a lathe?
as I have seen chuck is basically for either symmetrical job or for unsymmetrical long jobs but face plate is used when the job is irregular and is short and can not go into the chuck
