1. Why do I even bother with buying baby toys?
Fave: cellphones, any remotes, wipe containers, plastic cups/spoons/etc, empty cartons, pillows/cushions, anything cold, water, and yes, my computer keyboard... and thank God he can spend 10 minutes with that expensive Baby Einstein thingie that his gramma bought him. Least fave: hmm, got to be those dozens of stuffed animals that people gave us for baby shower, christmas, etc.
2. Wondering what to get baby (toys)?
Those Leap Frog activity and music tables are wonderful, you can leave the legs off until he's pulling up to stand. I am sure he will be putting lots of things in his mouth soon, so anything that's safe to chew on, teethers, etc, are a good idea. A push toy/ride on toy for when he's starting to pull up and take a few steps. A floor gym if he does not already have one (a floor mat with the arches with hanging toys). Good luck, hope your little guy has the best Christmas!!
3. I have a 4 yr old and a 18mth old , is it normal for the 4 yr old to want to play with the baby toys?
Absolutely. Believe me they will want almost anything the baby has because they are somewhat jealous. Just keep telling him how proud you are of him, and how he will be able to teach the baby how to play with the big toys when the baby grows up. He will eventually get bored and start playing with his toys too.
4. Should I keep these baby toys?
Cigarette smoke is extremely difficult to remove from any kind of fabric. Best to get new toys
5. Good baby toys NOT made in China?
why would it matter if they are made in china?
6. how should i disinfect baby toys?
I usually soak all the toys that can be in water in hot water and a cap full of bleach. The electronic toys I get the lysol spray and spray a light mist over everything. Like the remote and the video game controllers I use the disenfecting wipes. I have also learned that the walmart brand lysol is just as good as lysol itself. Plus it is only $2 when Lysol is almost $6. I spray everything down once a week. My daughter is 11 months and has only been sick twice and both of those times were with ear infections. . So she hasnt got anything contagious and we have had everyone in the house sick before. I just went around behind them with my off brand lysol can spraying everything that they have touched
7. Crinkle material in baby toys?
its celophane i think you can get it from newsagents in australia
8. What can be used to clean baby toys?
Do you have a organic, health food store? Mrs Meyers organic cleaning products are non-toxic and clean well
9. When washing soft baby toys in the washer, should I be using a detergent like "dreft" or just use hot water?
I doubt if it will all wash out without detergent. But remember, introducing small amount of bacteria etc to your baby is healthy. It will allow them to be stronger fighters down the road.
10. How do I take out a girl (19) while bringing her 9 month old son along?
First and foremost, hats off to you for dating a single mother! Go you! If the weather is warm, offer to take her to a local pool and help her play with the baby. Since you do not feel comfortable inviting yourself over to her parent's house, a local park is not a bad idea (remember to include a blanket or quilt to keep baby off the grass where buggies can get to the little one), or a kid-friendly restaurant like Denny's. It may not be 5-star, but helping to feed the boy so the mother can actually eat a hot meal for once is really special. Also, counting bites or bits of food while feeding the boy and mentioning the names and colors is adorable. I know I was always grateful when I was able to actually EAT when the food came! Do not take the kid to a movie, as they are too young to appreciate the necessity of remaining QUIET in the theatre. Another cute thing we used to do was go yard-sale hopping while looking for clothes or baby toys; it gives the kid something new to look at, and lots of "little", short car trips. Be sure to fasten the baby seat in firmly, tho! You pretty much have to put your knee in the middle of it and hold it down with all your weight while tightening it, to make sure it wo not wiggle back and forth with the belt. Ask your mom what would have made her feel like a million bucks! She's a girl, too!
