1. If you could remake one MCU movie, which would you pick and why?

Either Iron Man 3 would feature Tony actually confronting the Mandarin who represents everything Tony fears.

He is smarter, wields tech he cant understand, tech of alien origin. Its like the Mandarin was hand crafted to be the perfect villain for Tony at the point he was in. Maybe even have Mandarins Ultimo serve as the final inspiration for Ultron.

(Or introduce Hank Pym here.) OR have the Hank Pym setup, with the Grim Reaper/Wonder Man storyline from the comics as the inspiration for the story with AIM instead of Extremis.Or Ragnarok.

This one is more complicated. Im splitting Ragnarok into two movies.The first is a Guardians of the Galaxy/Thor team up.

Essentially Civil War with the other half of the MCU. Thor while hunting the stones crosses paths with the Guardians on Xandar and they end up on Sakaar and the Planet Hulk storyline ensues. Peter is greeted as a prince, finding out that Grandmaster was a political ally of his fathers alias on Spartax, JSon.

The Guardians and Thor are forced to fight with the gladiators until the prison break. Skaar would be the main sub-villain as time has passed differently on Sakaar and Hulk has been there for decades. The movie would end with Thanos massacring Xandar for the power stone and Thor, Hulk, and the Guardians failing to prevent it.

The second movie would be Ragnarok, but not slapsticky and goofy. Thor is separated from the Guardians and returns to Asgard to find that Loki has staged the death of Odin and was responsible for luring Thor to Sakaar, and Asgard believes he is dead. Its a real Asgardian epic.

The Warriors 3 and Sif are given their due. Enchantress and Skurge are the real villains with Surtur only appearing in flashbacks and the final battle. Asgard isnt destroyed, but it is severely damaged with major casualties.

Thor doesnt just lose his eye, but his arm. (Destroyer armor prosthetic for a joke with Bucky.) Only major change to Infinity War this causes is that Thor has an Asgardian army behind him when he shows up.

Thanos would have a line You live Odinsonnever send a Fire Giant to do a Titans job while Stormbreaker is in his chest. And the prologue would be in the throne room with Heimdall sacrificing himself to transport Hulk and Thor away, but while Thor is sent, Heimdall dies and he gets thrown off course. Same brutal tone and same tragedy with all the deaths

Would people vote for a Congress-led grand alliance in 2019?

Unlikely , because of the current morass within the grand old party. :The failing health of the president .

She is working (if at all) at suboptimal level because of her health issues.The Putra moha(Love of son) of the President does not allow her to take hard decisions. Incidentally Putri too has health issues , I am told.

Delhi is full of gossip and intrigue on this.There is an element of meglomania that the Prseident of Congress suffers from like all leaders. This does not allow her to abdicate or encourage other leaders within the party to rise .

Even if Sonia retires, the democracy within the party has been throttled systematically over years. Therefore there are no tall leaders in the party. Leaders who could take over and whose leadership would be acceptable to other lesser leaders.

Frankly the next rung of leaders are sycophants with no mass base. If she retires they may be on the roads. Or so they fear.

So they actively propogate status quo.For a moment, if we assume that the President of the party resigns. What do we see ?

A power struggle between ( more like a dog fight) the average leaders with no mass base or at best a regional base. That is why Laloo mooted the Maha gath bandhan ( BJP moved in and quickly destroyed it)Besides BJP political spin bowlers have rendered other possible players in the grand alliance ineffective. At least at present BSP, SP, JDU, CPI etc.

are all just licking their wounds and lying low. But then 18 months is a long time in politics.Unfortunately the Congress leaders also do not have any fire left in their belly.

Some stupid statements by Chiddu or Diggy or Anand or Manish, more to mark their attendance , than any serious discourse. The Congress leaders are not doing there swadharama of an effective opposition. They are mostly rich lawyers / dynastics who are not interested in going to grass roots public (except RG - unfortunately poor fellow ends up doing more damage than good ) .

What about Youth Congress. Has anyone heard any public engagements. There is a major disconnect between the grand old party and the public at large.

Compare this with the punishing pace that Mr. Modi and Amit Shah and others in BJP have set for themselves. Their connect with general public is remarkable.

Strong presence. Even AAP seems to have thrown in the towel.Which brings me to conclusion that BJP, as of now, is sitting pretty.

Despite the goof ups (debatable of course). Mind you , It is not a good situation for India. An effective and constructive opposition is necessary for the good of nation.

But, I am afraid that may take some time. As I have mentioned elsewhere , the long life of an ailing and ineffective Congress president is a boon for BJP. So is the stupidity of heir apparent .

BJP will do nothing to change that.2019 seems , at the moment tilted in favour of BJP. I do hope though, that Congress emerges stronger than 2014 and works as a constructive opposition party ; for the good of the country
