Generous Couple Renovate Apartments for Families of Serious Ill Children and now They Need Your Help

A kind-hearted couple are appealing for people to donate furniture and homeware items to help the families of serious ill children.We are in for two of the busiest shopping days of the year as people splurge on bargains during Black Friday and Cyber Monday.The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, had a seriously unwell young relative who was cared for by Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin.

They have now decided to give back by helping other families who are in a similar situation.The man told Independent.ie: "We know from experience that everything is so focused on the sick child that the well-being of the parents can fall to the wayside.

"So we have renovated three small apartments which can be used by patrons of the Jack and Jill Foundation, an organisation which provides services including respite home care to the families of unwell children."We're hoping this would give them a bit of a break and a chance to spend quality time together."The three two bed apartments are located in Bantry, Co Cork.

The apartments each sleep five people as the couple have put in a double bed and a triple bunk bed (which consists of a double and single mattress) into the properties.They also each have a large bathroom with a disability shower and a combined kitchen/diner.The Jack and Jill Foundation will handle the running of the apartments and those using them will only have to pay for electricity costs.

The couple said that a business in Dunmanway, Cork provided safety flooring for free, while the charity arranged the plumbing and electricity work, while they paid for everything else.They are hoping that the public will dig deep and donate furniture and other much-needed items.He said: "The man who was putting down the flooring suggested we put an ad looking for goods on Adverts.
