They are not the first company to eschew the low end of their market. Think of every luxury brand you've ever heard of. Ferrari. Rolex. All of them. It's super common. Even though Apple is hardly a "luxury brand" (exception being some of their watch models), they have completely refused to participate in the commodity race to the bottom that other OEMs are engaged in.
1. What kind of cell phone should i get? The red lg shine or the new apple iphone 3g?
omg i was in the same boat as you ! so i did a little research. I ended up choosing the iPhone because it has a lot more features than the LG shine. Everyone says its a break through mobile device and its true its one of the best phones out there in my opinion. There is Youtube,Safari, Weather,a Camera and many many more features that you can add with the new apps store!
2. Will Verizon now offer the ability to talk and browse at the same time on the Apple iPhone 6?
Contract free iPhone is costlier, it is bitter truth but contract based iPhone pricing needs to be checked before buying. I do not think verizon offers both at the same time. Check out pricing review with verizon here - Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Pricing Review.

4. Which should I have: the nook or kindle?
While the latest Kindle has a bit better screen than e-Ink Nook and has a better battery life (because Nook also has a little color touchscreen LCD screen at the bottom which is cool but drains battery), original Nook has a lot of advantages over Kindles: 1. Nook allows to lend books for 2 weeks to friends or to your other devices that run B&N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone and iPad, etc.) Barnes & Noble allows (when you walk in with the Nook to B&N store) to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. 2. Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks. 3. Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for renting text-ebooks. Also, if you are willing to spend a bit more, you could get Nook Color which is a hybrid Android device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet. Because it has a color LCD screen with anti-glare coating, it's much better for displaying graphs and charts of college text books than Kindle's black & white e-Ink screen (and even better than iPad's screen which is very reflective and glare-prone).
5. Is an Apple iPhone worth the extra cost in 2020?
It depends on what phone you want. If you decide to buy an iPhone 7 or lower for a price over $300, then do not waste your money. I do not know what iPhone you want, so let me know
