I Am Trying to Learn Javascript and Get a Good Grasp of the Basics but Every Time a Question Gets a Little Hard for My Level I Am Unable to Solve It and End Up

This happens to lots of people at first. It's hard to learn to think about things in a new language, which is basically what you are doing. My advice is to keep going.

At first you will not know how to do it. As long as you try, you can then find an answer and see how they did it.When you see an answer, you should go, u201cahh that's how they did that!

u201d If not, go back to the basics and learn more. That doesn't mean next time you see the problem you'll know how to do it. Saying u201coohhh I get itu201d is not the same as saying u201cohhh I can do that now.

u201dI remember my ah-ha moment.Freecodecamp has algorithm challenges at different levels. I was doing much the same as you.

I was looking for answers every time I reached a problem beyond the very basics. What worked for me was forcing myself not to write code until I had determined what had to be done first. After you break it down into steps it gets so much easier.

Problem : write a function that accepts a string as an argument then returns the string reversed.function reverseStr(str) This could be overwhelming for a new programmer. But what are the actual steps that we can take programmatically to solve the issue?

Make a new stringStarting with the last letter of the old string, add each letter one by one to the new string until there are no characters left. Return the value. Okay.

That's great, but what if I don't know how to do number 2?So glad you asked. This is where you start googling.

Get creative.Maybe this:Accessing characters in a string JavascriptYou might learn that characters can be referenced similar to how array elements are, or that there is a charAt method on strings.lastCharIndex str.

length - 1;strlastCharIndex str.charAt(lastCharIndex) // trueI won't fill in the rest because it's already been solved a million times. But I hope you get the point.

If you are having trouble reaching the conclusion that now you need to loop over the string in reverse for the entire length of the string until you reach 0, it's a great time to look up how other people have solved it. Your brain eventually makes sense of the patterns that you see.And then when you do solve a problem, it's a great time to see how other people have done it.

Then you might learn that the easiest solution, although perhaps not the most efficient is this:return str.split('').reverse().

join('');Then it becomes your responsibility to understand why that works. This is method chaining, and it's something you'll almost certainly use one day (hopefully with a short comment explaining what it accomplishes so your coworkers don't hate you later for it). Soon these problems won't take any thought to solve.

It'll become automatic. That's when you know you're fluent in this crazy language.Good luck on your learning journey

Do blacks sometimes feel that white people ignore them when greeting?

Feel? No. Experience?

Yes. I admit sadly that I take a perverse joy when they are forced to acknowledge me after burning the calories to snub or ignore my presence.I really dont want to give examples, Im still trying not to be petty about it.

EDIT: Changed my mind, im feeling too petty.Temp position at a computer repair place between LA and San Juan Capastrano, came in stood in front of the receptionist in the side office and said good morning. She looked up from reading her magazine and then went back to it saying: the sales floor was to the right as you came in.

No recipocated greeting, she had looked me up and down and decided she didnt have to be polite to me.I had been dismissed.I stood there.

I stood there and watched her start to fidget. Large black man standing silent in front of her desk.My wife had just passed, so my social skills were still down around my ankles and my being the happy go lucky cheerful black person to keep folk at ease required more effort than I was willing to emote.

So my standard was blankface professional. After a long moment she looked up with irritation and asked if I had heard her.We locked eyes.

Back then the strongest emotion i could muster to the positive was wry amusment.I was amused at her behavior and was in the process of deciding if I would just turn and leave without a word. Let her explain to her boss why the computer tech came and went.

On her part i watched her start to change colors as i volunteered nothing.(Sorry, but my state of mind was in a place that if you couldnt be polite, i couldnt be bothered, nothing mattered to me, i was working to support my kids with better than coldcuts, but we couldve done coldcuts-i just didnt care.)I was saved from being a total butt by the manager coming out of his office and seeing me asked if i was from the temp agency.

Her eyes got big as he introduced me and directed her to take me back to the bench. The first and only words to her from me were thank you. when she introduced me to the harried bench tech in back who then pointed to a tower after a fast handshake.

I could tell she didnt know what to do because she stood there for a while before leaving.Anyone who works temp as a tech can tell you that you gain a word of mouth following if you are at least competent.I was magic back then.

Military mindset, double armful of experience troubleshooting and resolving electronic issues, let alone computers. If i saw somewhere new it was in the span of months at a time as I always had callbacks. She avoided me that week.

Three weeks later I was back and she talked to me like she had not snubbed me before. In the past when this had happened and I was active duty, I was a bit more professional but would still let these folk step on their privates .Always funny when someone pointedly ignored me and addressed my subordinate only to have my junior direct them back to me.

There are just enough of these arrogant individuals to remind you that we are not a post racial society.

In The Godfather series, would Don Vito Corleone have thought that Michael was a bad don, like Santino was after everything Michael did to destroy the Corleone Family?

The reality is Michael had to work in a far more hostile environment compared to his father.

Vito would have been aware of this so I don't think he would have classed him as a failure. Most people forget that due to Vito miscalculating his rivals, Barzini managed to land a deadly blow by taking him out nearly which also led to the death of Sonny. Vito also alienated his son in law by treating Carlo as an outsider which made his family vulnerable.

In this regards Vito was not professionally as successful as Michael. On a personal level Michael was never really close with any of his siblings. It probably was a mix of difference in personality and capability.

Michael was never clannish as he tried to make it his own way initially. Unlike all his siblings he was college educated, sure his father may have pulled some strings to get him in Ivy League University but given how successful Michael was as a Don he clearly was also very talented. These qualities probably isolated him from his family.

He could never relate to Sonny because of Sonny clan like mentality. Fredo was openly acknowledged as not having much intellect. Perhaps the only one that came close was Tom Hagen.

Vito would have sympathised with Michael because he never had to deal with sibling rivalry because his family was butchered in Sicily. Especially given the fact that Michael looked after Fredo but Fredo rewarded him by betraying him to Hyman Roth. Interesting fact in the first film the family remained close it was trusted associates that betrayed the family: Paulie, Carlo and Tessi.

In the second part Michael had to deal with a needy Tom wanting in on all the deals, dopey/ envious Fredo, an out of control Connie who resented Michael for ordering Carlos death and an equally resentful Kay who felt she was tricked into marriage by Michael. Michael was brought down by his family who remained unsatisfied with him. I think if his family showed him more support he could have achieved some level of peace:Connie - being more understanding why Michael ordered Carlos death.

He was taking revenge for his brother and its highly unlikely Carlo held Connie in high regards. This would have given Michael less guilt. Fredo - being more supportive to Michael and not being resentful and envious of Michael.

Therefore not force Michael to order the act which haunted him forever.Tom - leaving Michael alone but letting him know he can come to him to discuss any thing. Michael would know that he could talk to him.

Kay - I think Kay should take some accountability for their failed marriage. Kay knew Michaels family were a very powerful crime family. Kay should have considered the fact that Michael may never be able to leave this world and she should have asked herself can she still marry this man.

Its clear Kay remained infatuated with Michael which probably influenced her decision. Its interesting to note that in the third film he had a more loving relationship with his sister this might explain why he mellowed a lot. Potentially Michael might have been more empathetic with people if he did not have such a troubled relationship with his family
