Scattered is good. Spreaded is not good though, because it's not a word. We say "spread" and that would be a good option. You could also say "There are papers strewn across the desk" or "There are toys dotted around the room"
1. My hamster doesn't look happy :(?
Your black bear hamster needs to live alone, unlike what the first person said on here. If you put two together they will kill each other. How long have you had your hamster? If you just got her it usually takes at least a week before they start calming down and adjusting to their new home. If you just got her you should not be handling her at all (Excepting refreshing the food/water bowls) for her to know your not going to hurt her. She does need a wheel to exercise on, and it seems like you have a lot of toys for her which is good but make sure the cage is not over crowded. Also do not use any plastic tube toys because black bears are bigger then normal hamster they tend to get stuck in the tubes. If she is eating the cage, it is probably a chewing issue. I buy these carrot chews from Walmart, and my hamster LOVES them to death. They look just like a mini carrot, they come in a pack of 4. They are like $2. 00 and are the best treat I bought. A lot of the petco/petsmart treats dont compare. Also, is she chattering her teeth? If she is, it means she is stressed. Leave the room, keep the cage in a quiet space, so she can relax. How much are you handling her? I handle mine (petting it) 5-10 minutes every other day, I tried doing it everyday but my hamster got stressed. all hamsters are different. Do you have a igloo house for her? If not, I highly recommend one. They sell them at petco in different colors. I put cotton fluff in there and my hamster sleeps all day in there. for bedding i use kaytee soft-sorbent and it is the best that i found out there on the market. your not a bad mom, you just need to get use to your new pet. read some hamster books, check out some websites, and most important dont touch but observe your hammy's behavior! oh - do not use those colored wood sticks they sell at petco- when they get wet the dye color comes off and makes everything in the cage change color and is bad for the hamster. use the knibbler ball (make of real wood) more money but is healthier
2. Toys for outside use?
yes, go to the dollar store, very inexpensive! :) You can get bubbles, balls, balloons, sidewalk chalk, buckets and little shovels they can dig, or put leaves, flowers, rocks, sticks in the bucket. Mine is 2 and she picks up leaves, sticks, rocks EVERY time we go to the park. lol
3. How do we stop our puppy chewing the sofa?
Get a dog/cat repellant spray from your local pet store. Most of these, you can spray directly on the furniture, but if you have doubts about that, spray lots of paper towels with it, and let it dry, then stuff them under the cushions. You will have to repeat this at least once a day! You may also want to get a doggy or baby gate and section the dog off in a small safe area at night or at any other time when you cannot fully supervise him. Of course, have lots of chew toys to distract him, because at 6 months old, this is a phase, but it is necessary to break in his teeth. I feel your frustration!!!!!
4. click here if your concerned about lead in toys!!?
Once or twice is a mistake. Hundreds of different toys is negligence. I prefer to stay on the safe side and steer clear of chinese made toys until they get their act together. I am not saying we should stop importing permanently. But China should be cut off until their toys consistently reach a safe rating again. You will understand the anxiety when you get older and have your own children. By the way, do not worry about not having any toys. If these companies go bankrupt, there are a million other companies, both American and from other, safer countries.
