Cameleer of date palm tree

Sadadeen was born in Baloochistan around 1870. By 1880 he was working as a camel man for Lord Roberts on the march to Kandahar.

It is thought he immigrated to Australia after obtaining work near Oodnadatta in South Australia at the time the railway line was completed in 1890. He was working with camel teams by 1902 for the Wallis Brothers, carting goods from Oodnadatta to Stuart, now Alice Springs and to Arltunga. By 1914 he managed a strong of 120130 camels, half belonging to him, the other half to Wallis and Co. Legendary bushman Walter Smith worked for Sadadeen for about 15 years. He described him as a hard man but deeply respected his skills and practices. Smith suffered from migraines and describes Sadadeen leaving him under a tree with a billy of water, expecting him to catch up to the camel train upon recovery.

Sadadeen married Annie Markham, but the relationship ended. They had no children.

A devout Muslim, he was a leader for the Afghan community in their worship at a small mosque on Todd Street in Alice Springs. Sadadeen lived on Todd Street in central Alice Springs where he grew flowers, including at times, opium. He also grew vegetables at a place called Sadadeen Swamp about 30 kilometres south of Alice Springs. The land on which the Alice Springs Town Council is currently sited was once Charlie Sadadeen's market garden. Two date palms planted in this garden can still be seen.

Irish wars (16411651) of date palm tree

Her father served in the Irish army and fought for the royalists under the leadership of her uncle James Butler, the Earl of Ormond, in the Irish Confederate Wars (16411648) and the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland (1649-1653) until he followed Ormond into French exile in 1651.

She is said to have been born in Strabane, County Tyrone, Ulster, near to which lies the townland of Dunnalong (or Donalong), which was her father's share of the land given to her grandfather Abercorn during the Plantation of Ulster. Her uncle Claud had lived in the Castle of Strabane until his death in 1638. The family must have fled from Ulster during the Irish Rebellion of 1641 when Phelim O'Neill burned the Castle of Strabane and took her aunt Jean, the widow of her uncle Claud, prisoner.

She was still an infant on 17 September 1646, when Owen Roe O'Neil, who had taken over from Phelim as leader of the Confederate Ulster army, captured Roscrea Castle where she lived. The confederates spared her, her siblings, and her mother but put everybody else to the sword. Owen O'Neill was leading his army south after his victory over the Scottish Covenanters at Benburb in June and was now attacking the royalists as directed by Rinuccini, the papal nuncio.

Her father was governor of Nenagh Castle, 30 kilometres (19mi) west of Roscrea, in October 1650 when the Parliamentarian army under Henry Ireton attacked and captured the castle on the way back from the unsuccessful siege of Limerick to their winter quarters at Kilkenny.

Pontius Pilate of date palm tree

The bronze coins (or 'prutah') issued by Pontius Pilate between 26 and 36 AD are of especial interest to Christians and Jews because of his connection with Jesus Christ and his involvement in Jewish history. The evidence of his coinage and the Pilate inscription found at Caesarea seems to reveal that Pontius Pilate as Prefect was determined to promote a form of the Roman religion in Judaea regardless of whether this was offensive to the Jews. Unlike those of his predecessors, the coinage issued by Pilate depicts Roman symbolism connected with the imperial cult such as the simpulum and lituus. However, it has been argued that if Pilate was deliberately trying to offend the Jews he would have put the head of the Emperor on the obverse of his coinage. Instead, he depicted three ears of barley. A third type showed crossed palm branches and a wreathed inscription.

The lituus was the wand of an augur, and was used to interpret natural phenomenon such as lightning flashes, the flight of birds, etc. The simpulum was a ladle used to make libations during sacrifices and was a common symbol of the Roman priesthood. These symbols were guaranteed to offend Jewish religious sensibilities being placed on coinage that they would have to handle on a daily basis.

According to the Caesarea inscription, Pilate dedicated a Tiberieum to the deified Augustus. Philo wrote that Pilate was "...inflexible, merciless and obstinate...(and did not) wish to do anything that would please his subjects." Josephus stated that Pilate set up shields, also associated with the Roman imperial cult, in honour of Tiberius in the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, which also caused great offence to the Jews, who protested until they were removed.

Charry Ada Onwu of date palm tree

Charry Ada Onwu-Otuyelu is a Nigerian literature writer and the first female Director of Imo State Council for Arts and Culture. She is an ex-soldier that worked with the Armed Forces medical service during the Biafran war. She is from Amaigbo in Imo State. She is a fiction writer of children's literature. Her themes include folktales and history.

Charry was a nurse by profession, having got her nursing professional qualifications from University Teaching Hospital Ibadan and Maternity Hospital Lagos. I was told she ran a clinic/maternity somewhere in Obinze, near Owerri, the Imo State capital. I would also learn from my friend Chukwubuike that she was also a civil war veteran, having served with the Biafran Armed Forces Medical Service during the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War (1967-70). But it was her writings that defined her essence, much like Cyprian Ekwensi and Anezi Okoro who, even though coming from the medical background, would become giants in the literary world.

One of the early female voices to take the genre of children literature very seriously, Charry Ada Onwu-Otuyelu ventured into creative literature in the early 1980s. Among her earliest works was Ifeanyi and Obi, which won the children literature award in 1988. She would go ahead in the course of her writing career to win several other literary awards with her outstanding works written for children.

Her keen interest in folktales and history defined the direction of her research, which mostly revolved around history and sociology. This also informed the themes of some of her works, which include Catastrophe, Our Grannies Tales, Adobi, Triumph of Destiny, One Bad Turn, Ada Marries a Palm Tree, Amaigbo Kwenu: History of My Town, Good Morning Mr Kolanut, among others.

It is the rivalry between two of the oldest football clubs still active in the city of So Paulo. The Paulista Derby is ranked among the 10 greatest derbies in the world.

It is one of the biggest rivalries in world football: CNN considers it the ninth largest classic in the world, the second in the Americas and the only one in Brazil to be among the main world rivalries. On the other hand, the Football Derbies website has placed The Paulista Derby as the 4th biggest rivalry in the world (and the first in Brazil), now ranked 8th in its world ranking , while the Brazilian magazine Trivela ranked it as the second largest in Brazil.

Corinthians and Palmeiras have already decided state (Campeonato Paulista), regional (Torneio Rio-So Paulo) and national (Campeonato Brasileiro) championships, plus a Copa Libertadores semi-finals and quarter-finals. No other Brazilian football rivalry has this many major trophies involved.

The rivalry between fans of the two clubs is also the biggest among the big fans in the state of So Paulo. Datafolha survey in 2010 showed that 59% of Corinthians fans consider Palmeiras as the biggest rival. For 77% of the fans in the city, the biggest rival is Corinthians. In February 2017, a Datafolha survey released by the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper showed that the majority of the population in the city of So Paulo continued to consider the classic between Corinthians and Palmeiras as the one with the greatest rivalry in So Paulo. According to the survey, carried out between February 8 and 9, 2017, 35% of respondents rated Derby as the biggest rivalry in the State of So Paulo.

Criticism of the adoration of the crown of thorns of date palm tree

A critique of the adoration of the crown of thorns was set forth in 1543 by Jean Calvin in the work Treatise on Relics. He described numerous parts of the crown of thorns known to him, located in different cities. Based on a large number of parts of the crown of thorns, Calvin wrote:

In regard to the Crown of thorns, it would seem that its twigs had been planted that they might grow again. Otherwise I know not how it could have attained to such a size. First, a third part of it is at Paris, in the Holy Chapel, and then at Rome there are three thorns in Santa Croce, and some portion also in St. Eustathius. At Sienna, I know not how many thorns, at Vineennes one, at Bourges five, at Besanon, in the church of St. John, three, and as many at Koningsberg. At the church of St. Salvator, in Spain, are several, but how many I know not; at Compostella, in the church of St. Jago, two; in Vivarais, three; also at Toulouse, Mascon, Charrox in Poicton, St. Clair, Sanflor, San Maximinin Provence, in the monastery of Selles, and also in the church of St. Martin at Noyon, each place having a single thorn. But if diligent search were made, the number might be increased fourfold. It is most evident that there must here be falsehood and imposition. How will the truth be ascertained? It ought, moreover, to be observed, that in the ancient Church it was never known what had become of that crown. Hence it is easy to conclude, that the first twig of that now shown grew many years after our Saviour's death.
