Last Light That Lingers in a Lovers Room

In the morning, wakened by astray ray of light snaking acrossmy pillow. A face faces mine,lids closed over coal black eyesframed by bed clothes rippledby tides of lustrising and retreating.The surf of our sweating bodies.

I touch my neck, still tender from hisgnawing, kneading, nibbling. Hours on end. Egging me on withwhispers and endearments.

Dearest, darling, delight,delicious,delectable.I thought I died when he impaled me,thrust his stake into theempty shell of my heart,cracked my carefully crafted carapace,restoring me with love. He stirs me still, my body burnslike a martyr on the pyre,my skin splits into open seamsand passion scatters into morning frost.

I tiptoe across the carpet andopen the blinds, welcome white stripes of sunlight towash my bedroom walls.He peers above the bedclothes,begs me, Not yet. He asks,Lie with me in darkness.

The world intrudes too soon. I wrap my fingers with his hair,no thought for the cravings that curse my day.Coffee, cream, Campari and Crown Royale.

The bracing jolt cocaine.Just a thirst, easy to ignore.Something salty.

And red.With tomatoes perhaps.You restored my life, I whisper.

Freed me. Brought me into daylight.He kisses the love bite on my neck.

There are things you need to know.He whispers till the last stripe of lightvanishes from my wall and he shares with mestories of stalking under the moonlight.Of ashes and decay.
