It was sort of a song where you would go back in forth and fill in the blank, "A my name is Abby, my husband's name is Alex. We live in Alabama selling apples." Then you would move on to the next letter "B my name is Barbara, my husband's name is Bob. We live in Boston selling baseballs." Then you would go through every letter of the alphabet filling in each blank. We would play this a lot on long car trips as kids. Sometimes it was tough coming up with words for each blank and each letter, but we did it. This reminded me of that. Such a happy memory, thank you.

Writing under anonymity because I have good friends in IIM Lucknow. I am from IIM A, batch of... never mind :)I would agree with Abhishek Agarwal POV that "All this said, the best of IIML could easily be better than the average of IIMABC. Or even perhaps the best of IIMABC"Partly because MAY BE this can be true. Mostly because that is the politically correct stuff these days. Trust me, I know he does not believe in that. He is doing the politically correct thing :)To answer this we to define what are the metrics on which you will evaluate a B School?My metrics would be 1) Input Quality 2) Quality of Faculty 3) Strength of Alumni network 4) Placements - This is linked to 1,2,3 and is an outcome of 1 2 3, but let us keep it here1) Input quality"No self respecting IITian goes anywhere below an IIM A/B/C" - Heard on IIT Madras campus in 2006We all know which IIM we think of when we write CAT. Let us not go into that. I was privileged to be a very close friend of the President's gold medalist of my batch in IIMA, who was also a PGM in his IIT. He wrote CAT thrice, to get into A. He got IIMB and IIMC twice in his earlier attempts, but passed. When I applied for CAT, I did not bother shading the bubble in the OMR next to IIM Lucknow, or Indore or Kozhikode for that reason. These are not isolated incidents, I know many more who did this on campus. The point is that, some people who have stellar CVs do not even feature in the applicant list for IIM Lucknow. IIMA in my batch had around 30% of students from the IITs. IIM Lucknow can never boast this number. I have met VERY few IITians from the non ABC IIMs. Yes yes, I am being a little in favor of the IIT system, but is that wrong? Realistically, is not that where our best minds go? Let us face it, input quality still is the biggest strength of academic institutions of this country. There have been enough and more stuff Quora proving this, and people comparing A,B graduates with Harvard and Wharton. Needless to say that is because of the input quality. But by the time they graduate, the IIM A/B/C students are likely to be ahead of their counterparts because of the better peer group. A and C were around since 1960s. Huge headstart. If you look at corporate India, the CXO levels are filled with A alumni. And as unfair as it seems, consciously or unconsciously there are cabals and groups. L is left outb) IIT IIT is a strong alumni network. IMHO, way stronger than the IIM alumni network. Because of the high number of IITians in IIM A/B/C, these networks spill over to IIMs, resulting in stronger alumni interactions and connections. Huge plus4) Placements Placement is a function of alumni presence and the perceived value of the institute in the eyes of the recruiter. Head to head, there is no comparison between companies in IIM Lucknow and IIMs A/B/C. The middle of the pack companies are pretty much the same in both places, but the best companies of A/B/C are miles ahead of those in L.I mean to say best companies in terms of money, opportunities to go abroad, etc. Like the Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, Morgan Stanleys, Barclays of the world.That said, if you are in the middle of the class, your opportunities are pretty much the same.Thanks for reading till here.
