There is a hadith about the palm date. Narrated ibn Omar (radiyAllahu anhu): The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said, "Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree." Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree but felt too shy to answer. The others then asked, "What is that tree, O Allah's Apostle?" He replied, "It is the date-palm tree." "Indeed there is a tree that does not shed its leaves, it resembles a Muslim. So tell me, which is it?" So people started discussing the trees of the country side. 'Abdullaah ibn 'Umar said: "I thought to myself that it was the date palm tree, but I was shy [and did not speak up]." So they asked the Messenger - : "Tell us what it is O Messenger of Allaah." He said: "It is the date palm tree." I mentioned this to 'Umar who said: "It would have been more beloved to me than such and such had you said it was the date palm tree." [Collected by al-Bukhaaree. Also collected by Muslim; the wording is for Muslim]. The virtue of the date palm: The scholars stated: The Muslim was likened to the date palm due to the abundance of its goodness, the continuity of its shade, the goodness of its fruit and its presence throughout the year. Indeed from the time its fruit emerges, it could continue to be eaten until it dries, and after it dries a lot of benefits are gained from it. Likewise from its leaves, wood and branches; they are used for staffs, fire wood, rods, straw mats, ropes and utensils amongst other uses. The last thing is the date stone which is used as fodder for camels. Furthermore, the beauty of its growth and the pleasant shape of its fruit, all of it is beneficial, is goodness and beauty. Just as the believer is all goodness, from the abundance of his obedience and the nobility of his manners. He constantly prays, fasts, reads, remembers, gives in charity, enjoins the ties along with the rest of the forms of worship and other than this. This is the correct angle of resemblance. It was also said that the angle of resemblance is that if the top of it is chopped off the rest of it dies in contrast to the rest of the types of trees. It was also that it is because it does not produce fruit until it is pollinated and Allaah knows best.
1. Is it true the Prophet Muhammad gave a Date-palm Tree human emotions to then gave comfort to the tree trunk?
Which verse did you pick this from? Hilarious. Iam stumped
2. My huge 30 year old date palm tree has died?
Why did you remove all the leaves?
3. I would like a canary date palm tree, but I don't want a tall one.?
Otherwise you would have to fleece it for the winter. It's a lovely palm though as you can see. If you want a hardier palm there is always Cordyline which comes in all colours but as it's a cabbage palm it does not have the tropical look of Phoenix. I am trying out some of the newer palms and you may get away with Jubaea chilense but they are not that easy to get. Butia capitata is a also beauty but very wide. Try googling the word palm and you will find many websites devoted to palms, you may not find what you want but you will have a fascinating time looking. Good luck
4. who is interested in buying a large date palm tree?
How much and where is it coming from? It would probably die under my care
5. Will our date palm tree survive?
i've no experience w/ date palms, but i think its worth a try, especially considering you say there is still a little bit of the roots attached. and the bigger the plant, the better your chances are. plant it in the ground, buy some root stimulator (liquid is better, imo). keep well watered. propagating from the leaves/offshoots is the normal method. you could do both, but i would set my main focus on the whole tree. if you are lucky, maybe the root mass still in the ground will put out a few shoots!
