The Dallas Stars welcome Sleep Inc. as the team's Official Mattress. Sleep Inc.
, a family-owned mattress company, is proud to be the leader in comfort and responsibility by featuring the only true end-of-life mattress recycling program in the industry. "Unfortunately, many people do not realize the impact that old discarded mattresses have on the environment," states Doug Guffey, President of Sleep Inc. "Approximately 30 million mattresses and box springs are discarded annually, most often ending up in landfills.
If stacked up, these mattresses would create a pile 4,000 miles high!" As part of its efforts to lead in responsibility, Sleep Inc. offers its retailers the only true end-of-life mattress recycling program in the bedding industry.
"We take each mattress and box spring, and break them down, dismantling them into their core materials. These components are then shredded, chopped and bailed, and sold for reuse in other industries, in essence giving new life to an old mattress," explains Guffey. Last year, Sleep Inc.
was able to save over 60,000 pieces from landfills through its recycling efforts. "Buyers have a choice," Guffey continues, "as a company, we not only focus on comfort, design and value in the mattresses we make, but also feel the need to take responsibility for the care of the environment and set the standard for corporate care." Sleep Inc.
also donates one blanket for every recycled mattress to the homeless. Sleep Inc.'s mattresses are currently available in thirty seven states across the US.
They proudly produce their own lines including Body Comfort, Body Cool, Body Rhythms, and a Hospitality Collection as well as producing mattresses for other well-known brands in the bedding industry. Sleep Inc. is also proud to be supporting local economies by handcrafting all of its mattresses and foundations in the USA.
"We are so excited to be able to partner with the Stars to help bring awareness of what can be done with the help of Dallas fans as well as others in the sport" he states. "We know how passionate hockey fans are, and hope to see this same enthusiasm translate to all recycling efforts!" As a symbol of the company's commitment to recycling, the Sleep Inc.
"Green Team" clad in green shirts will line the aisles of American Airlines Center during Stars game intermissions and collect trash to recycle.
