Smart Parts Ion Board Repair?

Unfortunately you will have to replace the board. I owned an Ion years ago. Good enough gun, but was a maintenance nightmare. Parts were easily broken. As you well know.

well I personally like Smart Parts (and I like epiphany better than Ion). But others really do like Bob Long, I guess its how you like the feel of the gun and more of a personal preferance

Between the two marker choices, the Smart Parts Ion XE would be a better choice. There are more upgrades available for the Ion and you will be less likely to outgrow the marker as your playing abilities/skills progress. For less than $60, a good loader is the ViewLoader eVLution III. If you have a little extra money to spend, you can not go wrong with a Halo B, Empire Reloader B, or VLocity/VLocity Jr. (my personal favorite.)

Go with the SP-8. I LUV THAT GUN!!!!! I HAVE MINE FULLY UPGRADED AND IT IS SOOO SWEET. But then again this is just a personal choice. Its all up to you

What do you WANT to upgrade? Pretty much all upgrades are personal preference and some things people upgrade do not even need to be upgraded. For example, the stock reg is actually really good but people always replace it with, most commonly, a CP reg, which is not at all higher performing; it's basically the same. Do you want a lighter and/or more accurate barrel? Do you want a different trigger? Do you want a different feedneck or asa?

The best barrels for the Smart Parts Ion are by far the Dye Ultralite and the Stiffi carbon fiber barrels as they are extremely light and efficient. I recommend the Dye Ultralite over the Stiffi however, as it is seemingly more accurate.

O.K. But the ion is really good right out of the box. And you can make just for you with almost unlimited customization you can upgrade anything on that gun froom the breech to the board.

Answered the last one you posted. Read the reviews at pbreview.com and that's all you should need. Otherwise go to a paintball store and ask to hold/shoot both markers to make your decision. Both will operate well on a siphon tubed co2 tank. We've sold hundreds of ions since their arrival a few years back but we've only manage to sell about 20-25 vs3s and i've had 3 returned. The people speak not through words but what they buy. Vote still holds for the ion

If you are gonna use co2, go for a Spyder or a Smart Parts Vibe (i would recommend the Vibe over a Spyder). If you are gonna use hpa (compressed air), get the Ion.

If you have the money for that ION get it The Spyder is Good but the ION is better.. Spyders are very VERY easy to maintain can use CO2 or Compressed Air it's a high pressure blowback marker so it will be alittle louder have more kick/recoil and being HP will use more air.. The ION is a electropneumatic marker Break Beam Eyes, High Rate of Fire, Extremely Light Minimal Kick Even on Rebound, Low Pressure System, Inexpensive Adjustable Trigger, Interchangeable Body Kits, Use of CO2 Not Recommended (but is possible)

What air source do you plan on using? Co2 or hpa? This all depends on access you currently have to both. It also depends on if you can afford an hpa tank, since i highly recommend only using hpa with an Ion. The A-5 can use both co2 & hpa with no problems. However, it's not suited well for speedball. It's not as compact & light as an Ion and not as fast (unless the A-5 is upgraded with an E-Grip & a double trigger). So your choices really become: - Ion Evo3 hpa tank = $300 or more - A-5 w/ E-Grip installed co2 tank = $280-ish
