A big screen like the movies are made so you are always in the right spot as the screen is so big,but on a tv regular sizes 42 to 60 inch it was bad as soon as you moved your head.Active shutter does not change at all the only complaints were brightness went down a bit and some people got a headache after watching a while.I had both techs in 2011 and samsung was much better at produc at all angle without ghosting or double pic hits. Now its better for 2012 but supposedly so is LG passive.I suggest trying both for yourself because you are going to get opinions like I like samsung or panasonic active shutter,but everyones different.Try both,that's the true test for you.
