Not really, it's escapism. Everyone has their own methods
1. First Birthday Invites? Registry? Gifts?
How about making invites yourself most computers have invite templates the cost of ink might be an issue though you can print one and make copies cheap at Kinko's or something. My husband made my daughters 1st bday invites for her 2nd bday we just bought packaged invites from walmart. As for the registry people just buy kids toys or clothes most people will just ask if you are picky with what your kid gets maybe a registry will help but I usually just put on the invite the baby's clothing and shoe size and I let people buy what they want as long as it's appropriate for the age.

9. What age do you stop buying kids toys?
kinda depends on the toy. my friend builds monsterous lego towers as part of his thinking process. but action he and i stopped at 12. we are currently 15
10. Has your kids toys ever went off by themselves?
Yes. We live in a tiny apartment and I had put a bunch of my daughter's toys that she does not play with anymore into a garbage bag to be put into the closet. It was sitting next to the closet where I could hear it (or not hear it I guess) all day long. That thing would not go off AT ALL during the day but every single night, it would go off as soon as we all went to bed. It would go off, stop for 10 minutes or so, go off again, stop, go off, stop.....if you got up while it was going off, it would just stop as soon as you stood up. It was creepy. Then last week, I left my daughter on the couch, watching cartoons before her nap. I had to run downstairs (where my Grandma lives) to get something. I was gone for maybe 30 seconds and when I came back up, as soon as I opened the door, I could see an Elmo vacuum cleaner my daughter has laying on it's side on the floor but it was rocking back and forth really hard like someone was sitting there pushing on it. It stopped a second after I saw it and my daughter was still on the couch watching tv. Also, whenever I take her into the basement to do laundry, I sit her on the dryer. The furnace is right in the middle of the basement and she will bend to see around me and keep saying, "Hi Papa"...which is what she calls my stepdad, who is alive and well but sometimes when she was little, she would call any older guy "Papa".
