Toys for Tots Drive by County Republican Committee Collects More Than 300 Toys

The Gloucester County and Camden County Republican Organizations proudly announce record success for the first-annual two-county sponsored "Toys for Tots" drive that was held Dec. 5 at Adelphia Restaurant, in Deptford.The event generated more than 300 new unwrapped toys in time for distribution during this season of giving. More than 300 people attended the event, with live music from the band "Frankie and the Flatliners" adding to the festivities. The "Toys for Tots" Foundation is run by the United States Marine Corp Reserve where new unwrapped toys are distributed to less fortunate children in our community, with the primary goal of delivering a message of hope and assisting them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens. The Gloucester County and Camden County Republican Committees thank all who donated and participated in the event, with special thank you to the staff at Adelphia's Restaurant.The Washington Township Republican Committee meets every third Wednesday of each month. Depends on what kind of art and toys. Toys can be made from cheap pine construction lumber like 2x4s or 1x4s. Pick those without a lot of knots. If you want something to last forever - almost - use a hardwood like oak or maple. For art, use what ever fits the artwork. Wood comes in an almost infinite range of colors and grains - use dark walnut, striped zebra wood, nicely grained curly maple or black ebony -- or mix them all to form a picture. Since you sound like a beginner, I would grab some cheap pine for a couple of bucks and practice with that before blowing a couple of hundred on chunks of some exotic hardwood. That is nice of her to do that. But, the kids do not need all that. Ask her to start bringing candy or DVDs, tell her what they need- underwear, socks, pantyhose, and I know she just wants to do for her grandkids but no one has room for that much stuff. Go through the toys and give 1/2 to charity. Let your kids get involved so they know they are helping less fortinate kids.

What kind of toys would a 10-14 year old boy like?

My first thought was going to be action figures, but for a boy who does not speak English, it might be better to choose toys that are less related to characters and stories he might not be familiar with. Two ideas: 1. Stuffed animals. Although he probably wo not be needing them in several more years, packing one or two stuffed animals could be a really comforting gesture. Make sure they are soft and sturdy. My favorite brands are Russ Berrie and Gund. 2. Toy cars. Boys of this age love playing with cars, both alone and in groups. They are great to collect over time and, if you buy a sturdy model, it will last for years. Good luck!

Those are commonly called “flocked toys,“ based on the flocking that's used to make them fuzzy. (It's used in wallpapers, too.) I suppose I would call the tiny ones “flocked miniatures.“

Is race a big deal even when it comes to toys or video games?

I do not think its a big issue. When i was growing up i used to play with action man (white version of barbie) which i really enjoyed. Thinking of it now i reckon my liking for action man would not have been any different if the doll was black or white.. When were kids we tend not to think about race as much as teens and adults.. Obviously i think its a good thing to represent all races when it comes to toys but i do think some people make a massive issue on race when there does not need to be all the time..

I personally believe that the person who came up with all this intense packaging should be taken out and beaten with kids toys. He should then be locked in a room with filled with them and not be allowed to leave until he had undone all of them, without the use of scissors or a knife and with at least three children screaming at him that they wanted their toy NOW!!!!

I have a question about dog toys?

Man, I am out a fortune on dog toys...and i have mini dachshunds! Buddy's, squeaky pigs, tennis balls (the list goes on....and on!), all last about 3 minutes. The only indestructible squeaky toy I have found them, they do not like. Typical. Kongs are definatley the best treat dispensing toy, but my dogs do not necessarily 'play' with theirs. So to answer your question, yes it's very normal in my experience. And if everyone else thinks the same I am thinking there might be a gap in the market. Dragons den, here I come!

Get the large-dog twisted Rope Pull instead & play tug war with her or just throw it for her to run & get & bring back to you. There is not too many toys that will hole up to a dog that size

You can make the guinea pigs some toys :D My guinea pigs enjoy some apple on a string hanging on the cage!! They LOVE it! You can get a carboard tube (small one) and put some hay in it! They like this too! Or, be useless and buy some XD

I do not know that we have many gender specific toys other than the baby we bought for my daughter for her birthday. She has balls that she loves, the Bounce and Spin Pony, her baby and books are her favorite thing of all. If you give her a choice between the coolest toy in the world and a book, she will go for the book every time lol. She does love her doll though, but my nephew has a baby that he carries with him everywhere too, so I do not even think of that as a gender specific toy anymore.

Try using an incentive when she plays with her toys and when she has a baby toy take it away and scold her how ever you normally do. She is still young so she should catch on. I took string or ribbon and cut it into 6 inch strips. about 10 of them and line them up around a chop stick from the restaurants and then tape them around to make one of those cat toys to jiggle in front of their face, Also you can take old tissue rolls and place them in a sock stick some nuts in it and tie it closed. cats love that. and for just shear nonsense you can put foil on your cats tail, does amazing things to excite a cat.

Honestly the only thing your baby will be interested in in the next few month is eating, sleeping, pooping and eating. His best and favorite toy will be YOU. He will love staring at you, touching you, speaking to you and smelling you. You are also the best toy to teach him about colors, shapes and sounds. Take him around the house grab his hand and let him touch different textures. Show him different colors. You have no idea how much fun a page from a magazine can be for a baby. Once he is older you can take him to a toy store and let him try out a toy if he likes it but it. We bought everything possible, activity mats, play gyms, jumperoos, DVDs, puppets, name it we have it, my now 6 month old still does not care for most of them. Her favorite toy is plastic Easter eggs that I got on sale for 99c a dozen after Easter because they are bright colored. She loves playing with them and having them around her. But if you want toys buy a bright colored mobile or a black and white one and a simple rattle, that will be enough for the first 3-4 month
