The Apple iPhone headphones are very functional headphones that get the job done. They wo not please audiophiles out there, but for the rest of us they are just fine. One of my favorite features is the mic/button that lets you control music (even on my MacBook!) and have conversations. A couple weeks ago I noticed my mic stopped working, along with the button remote. At first I thought it was my iPhone and a recent firmware update that caused the headphone jack to malfunction. So, I ended up calling Apple Support on the phone. I told them how my mic/remote was not working and they immediately sent out a new pair via next day via Fedex! I opened the package I tested out these brand spankin' new headphones-only to have them not work still! At this point in time I decided to turn to Google. I was able to discover what was causing this minor headache of mine: a chunk of lint! I ended up using the end of a paperclip to dig out the massive chunk of lint below: I was pretty shocked at the size of this chunk of lint! I had no idea this could make its way down the headphone jack. So there you go folks, if your mic/remote does not work, shine a light down the headphone jack to see if you can find a massive chunk of lint. Just make sure you turn OFF your iPhone before you start picking around!

You may need a new battery too. If you can borrow one from somewhere to test, that would be helpful. Did your battery have a big memory on it? It's also possible your new charger is busted. Further, "they warned me i might need to install a driver", is a slappable offense. You can try an SMC reset. . To do that, you must hold in the power button, starting from the machine being in the off state. You have to hold in the power button for like 20 seconds. You will know if a SMC reset has occurred as the computer will make this terrible high-pitched squeel for two seconds. If you called Apple support, I am pretty sure the first thing they would suggest is trying an SMC reset. Though I do not that that will actually help.If you end up not being able to get the machine booting on another battery & power adapter, then I fear your motherboard may need attention, which wo not be worth it as the parts will probably cost you too much. You can take out the hard drive, put it in a USB enclosure and get any other Intel Mac to boot very very gracefully from it, all your stuff will be right there

According to Apple knowledge base entry HT2346 the 85W power adapter is the right one. However, there seem to be issue with "T" style (the old) vs. "L" style (the new): see this thread. It seems that for some people, a workaround does the trick:Turn off your computer, flip over the laptop and remove the battery, hold down the circlular button on the battery for 10 seconds, the green light should go out. Re-install the battery and turn your computer on. Your new charger should work fine.If that does not work, you need to call Apple support to arrange for your power adapter to be replaced with a "T" style adapter:Apple is aware of the issue with the pins being at a different depth in the new chargers with the "L" shaped connection. After having two new ones not work, I contacted tech support. They sent a new version of the old charger with the square mag safe connector. It works fine.Edit: Apparently the MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.4 should fix the "L" style power adapter issue on older MacBooks.

Buying directly from an Apple retail store will give you an all around better shopping experience, and they will even help you configure it free of charge. I believe that the only place that you can get it other than from Apple is from Best Buy, and it is doubtful that it will be available in Costco anytime soon, and even more doubtful that it will be significantly lower that Apple's price. If you wait a month or two, you may be able to get a refurbished one from Apple direct with the full warranty and Apple support.

If you are charging from a wall outlet, then connect your iPad to your computer. If it works, then I suggest next time charging your iPad to a different wall outlet as there may be a bad connection. If you are doing it from a computer, then try using a wall charger. If it STILL wo not work then you will have to call Apple support and depending on how new your iPad is it might be covered on warranty.

The only effective way of repairing this would be to send it in to Apple support. Unless the earphone jack is just dirty. Otherwise, try to clean it with a q-tip

Apple is investigating reports of poor battery life problems from iPhone 3GS users after they upgraded to the 3.1 OS. The iPhone 3.1 software update delivered many new features, but some users also report that the phone's battery life is severely and adversely affected. Apple's support forums are now overflowing with complaints from iPhone 3GS users who updated their phone to the 3.1 software. The messages on the forums are all so familiar -- extensive battery drain in a very short space of time. More than 375 replies are now on the respective thread. Following the river of complaints, Apple is reportedly taking steps to address the poor battery life problem. The iPhone blog is reporting that some iPhone users are now being contacted by AppleCare helpdesk representatives with a list of 11 follow-up questions focusing on batteries.
