What Are the Best C Books?

I am a professional C programmer and have been for the last 5.5 years. I started with Amazon.

com: C from the Ground Up, Third Edition (9780072228977): Herbert Schildt: Books as my first book which was suggested to me as a part of an Intro to C course in my freshman year at college. Bruce Eckel does a good job of holding your hand and walking you through the basics of programming with C. I suggest that you start there.

This book has helped me immensely over a number of years from my freshman year at college to interview preparations and now I keep it at my desk for a quick reference.Once you have the basics under control you can move on to Amazon.com: The C Programming Language, 4th Edition (0000321563840): Bjarne Stroustrup: Books if you feel the need to.

I have only used it as a reference though and have not invested the time to thoroughly study it.The best way to learn any programming language is to use it for a project. After getting a good grasp of the basic concepts dive in to solve a problem or complete a project.

That is when the real learning will take place!Bear in mind, C11 and 14 have been on the rise lately. The books above do not cover them but it is easy to pick them up if your foundation is good!

I have not had any trouble with that. Hope this helps! Feel free to get in touch if you have more questions or need any help.

Can I greet a girl by saying "sweetheart"?

Are you a straight male? If so, this is not a term used for greeting strangers, particularly adults.

Among complete strangers, it is only very infrequently used for younger children (particularly younger girls), and in very specific scenarios. Gay males can also get away with it sometimes, as can some females. But, it very nuanced and still not a general greeting.

Here are some examples: Say a young girl is in a situation that is potentially dangerous or scary, and her parents are somehow not able to address is at that very moment. You might say, "Sweetie/sweetheart, don't insert life lesson here. .

" Or, say a little kid is crying and you try to comfort them, you might say, 'Aw sweetie, what's the matter?" A gay male - seen as openly exhibiting this status (yes, it normally needs to be somehow apparent or clearly signaled by dialect or social cues/mannerisms) - can often get away with saying Sweetie/Sweetheart/Girlfriend/Sister/Honey etc. to an adult female.

But, it is normally in a service environment of there is some kind of expected interaction, or it is seen as slightly tongue-in-cheek or intentionally humorous. An old school FEMALE waitress can often say "sweetheart" or "sweetie" in the context of asking if she can get you anything else. This can also be "darling" or "hon/honey.

" However, even in these contexts there is a bit of complexity as to social position/identity and gender or age considerations that also come into play. This is a long way of saying:"Are you a straight male? If so, this is not a term used for greeting strangers, particularly adults.

"Can I greet a girl by saying "sweetheart"? I'm not sure if it is rude to call a strange girl like that?

Why do people hire personal chefs?

Hello, Mr. Smith, and thanks for the A2A!The only people I know of who have a personal chef are people who entertain a lot.

And, I mean, a lot. Thereu2019s no way you can stage a cocktail reception on Friday night for 50, and a luncheon on Saturday afternoon for 15 and a sit-down dinner for 30 on Sunday night without professional help in drawing up the menus, arranging for the shopping and then putting it all together on the table. Just thinking about it crushes me.

People who retain personal chefs are often what you might call high-profile people; they come into contact with the public constantly, and this (naturally) generates a thousand opportunities (one might say requirements) to extend hospitality. So, we are talking about elected officials and others who hold public office, as well as people who are socially prominent.A lot of people dream of being rich, and having that kind of household.

Not me. Itu2019s more work than I would ever want to put into it, and the ever-present possibilities of forgetting to include someone, or unknowingly offending someone, serving the wrong thing, saying the wrong thing or dressing the wrong way represent a thousand ways to insult somebody, someplace, somehow. Itu2019s all too intimidating for me to find it attractive.

I suppose there are people who engage a personal chef just so they can say they have one (we call these people u201csocial climbersu201d), or perhaps they enjoy the idea of having someone at their disposal who they can roust out at midnight to fix an omelet for them (we call these people u201cjerksu201d).Anyway, thatu2019s my 2 centsu2019 worth. Thanks again for the A2A.

Why would people have a personal chef?

What are the various ways I can respond to "Wie gehts dir" in German?

If you are not in the mood for smalltalk, you could say: u201cDanke, gut - ich hoffe, Dir auch!

u201d, without being impolite. This would not be prompting any lengthy reply. You have to keep in mind that in German this question is not quite as perfunctory as its English translation of u201cHow are youu201d, which mostly is not even meant as an inquiry into your opponentsu2019 wellbeing at all.

So, the answer of u201cFragu2019 besser nichtu201d would indicate that the person asked is either not in the mood to talk - or on the other hand, that he/she is having some real problems. If a German answers: u201cOh, heute gehtu2019s mir gutu201d (with an emphasis on the word u201cheuteu201d), he/she means to express that days of sickness or emotional or whatever stress are now past - which implies a personu2019s readiness to talk about their issue. If a German answers: u201cOh, heute nicht so gutu201d (with an emphasis on the word u201cnichtu201d), he/she means to express that they are indeed suffering from some (minor) issue.

Putting the emphasis on u201cheuteu201d, that phrase would indicate that he/she hope or believe their disorder to be temporary, and that it will be passing soon.Putting the emphasis on u201csou201d (with a looong u201cou201d), the phrase would indicate that the person is generally very much at ease with his/her health and situation in life, and that todayu2019s issue is just a very light and almost imperceptable one

Why are my ex's friends so rude to me? They keep making fun of me and watch my every move.

It's so hurtful because I don't even talk to them anymore.

Your exu2019s friends are rude to you because they are HIS friends, not yours. They have, most likely, heard him complain about you and blame you for everything without realizing that it takes two people to make or break any relationship.

I looked at your profile, as I wanted yo know your age-your maturity level. In any case, if you are a teen, its time to learn to mature a bit more. There is absolutely nothing you can do about what other people say or feel about you.

you canu2019t change it or make it better. They do what they do because they are mean, bullies or just nasty people egged on by your ex.You need to learn ot ignore them, as difficult as that may be.

There are quotations by many famous people who were talked about behind their back, or even in the news papers. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was one of the first of modern times outspoken women, but she was not pretty or stylish and people made fun of her all the time. She had a saying that I love:What others think of me is none of my business.

In other words.she recognized that she could not change the people who were rude to her or made fun of her because she wasnu2019t as attractive as movie stars of the era wereu2026after all, they thought, sheu2019s the First Lady and she should be beautiful and gracious. Instead she was intelligent and outspoken.

I suggest you try very hard to emulate Eleanor Roosevelt and not pay any attention to the people who are so childish and rude to you.you canu2019t change them so try very hard to ignore them. Be your own first lady!

How do you say hello in every Italian regional dialect/language?

For the most part you say u201cCiaou201d.

Dialects are nice, but they are pointless to navigate XXI century Italy, as most of the adults and all of the children speak Italian (although most retain an accent). Probably the last generation that spoke consistently their dialect in the north was my grandparentsu2019, while in the south dialects lasted as the primary language for one generation more.On the other hand, dialects are neither regional nor easy to learn.

Dialects are local, two neighboring towns can speak different subdialects of the same dialect or even two completely different dialects (thatu2019s the case for instance in Apulia). In Milan alone there are at least two different versions of the local dialect being spoken: Porta Ticinese spoke a Milanese dialect that is deeply influenced by the sputhern area of Lodi, while the Isola neighborhood was influenced by the Brianzolo dialect. The two could communicate, but the differences in terms of accent and even of lexicon were noticeable.

Finally, if you ar einterested in learning dialects you may have a hard time learning all of them Each dialect is a wholly different language from Italian. Pick for instance these few lines by Carlo Porta (the English version is mine):MilaneesnSaran fior, ma i mee camisnhin tutt lis u2013 per el brusaccnche gh'u00e8 dent in quella fottanche pergotta u2013 del pissacc.ItaliannSaranno fiori, ma le mie camiciensono tutte sciupate u2013 per il bruciorenche c'u00e8 in quella robaccianche sgocciola dall'organo dell'orina.

EnglishnMaybe they are flowers, but my shirtsnare all stained u2013 by the burningncaused by that ugly stuffnthat drips from the dick
