I was about to say furbies but Wubzu beat me to it. But I feel bad about calling them annoying...at least they were cute?
1. Are you ever too old to get daft kids toys?
Sarah! Not too old I have a Robot I received for Christmas a few years ago! Jimmy
2. Should the US subsidize factory jobs like China does?
Not if it means that the factories will end up putting lead paint on kids toys, toxic gluten in pet food, unsafe baby products, .... you know the litany of dangerous junk they have shipped to the usa out of those subsidized factories
3. How can I get my lab to stop eating the kids' toys?
Put it where he can not get them, duh. If kids leave stuff out, then it's their own fault when it gets chewed. They should know better
4. how important to kids are toys and how much is enough?
Are they close in age? I generally cull out old toys as new toys come in... If she does not play with it much, and the age level recommendation of the toy is young enough that I would not buy it for her now, out it goes. Last Christmas we each (my then 4 yr old and I) picked out something of our own and sold it on eBay (she chose Bear from Bear In The Big Blue House)... we then took the money and bought a present for a child who's name was on the Christmas Tree at the local YM/YWCA as being in need of a gift. It's been 7 months and she still asks if I think "Zack" is enjoying his gifts... it's given her a better sense of compassion and giving.
5. Do you wash your kids toys?
I would sanitize them at least once in a while with a clorox wipe on plastic things. On small parts I would not worry as much. For stuffed animals a wash through the laundry every 6 months would not be a bad idea. they can collect mites and dust that can cause allergies and resperatory issues
6. Is it fair of me to tell my neighbor's 3 year old not to take my kids' toys out of their hands?
I live in a large apartment complex and I know exactly what you are dealing with. I think you did the right thing. If that mother was not going to do anything about it you had the right to tell him he was in the wrong. I deal with lazy parents all the time....it is not easy, I feel for you. Hopefully you can keep your kids away from that boy and they wo not be subjected to his violence any more.
7. do parents really spend hours just playing with there kids and their toys?
I know how you feel. I did the same thing with my kids when they were growing up. If you are getting bored with your son's toys, ask yourself if HE is getting bored with them... or maybe more importantly, is there anything else he can learn from them? If he can not learn anything more then it is time for new toys.
8. Why didn't the liberals in San Fran take kids toys away from Burger King, Wendy's and other Corps?
Actually, the law is that ANY restaurant that serves children's meals with less than 600 calories will not be allowed to give away free toys. The stories named McDonald's and Happy Meals because they have the highest profile (what is the kids meal called at Burger King? Anyone know?) The ban is due later this year, and is equal across the fast food industry. It is designed to make it easier for parents, because no toy = less pester-power. Giving kids a reward for eating crappy food is really not a good idea, and leads to a nation of lard-arses. But I guess you would know that.
9. what will the must have kids toys be this
Well whoever said that is mean..lol. But the must haves are like the Dsi XL and stuff like that. Anything on commericial really
10. Does anyone know the best way to sanitize and dissinfect kids toys?
non-chemical? soap and water.... personally we use the lysol wipes on everything!!!!!! You could perhaps run some things thru the dishwasher, i put some stuffed animals in there so they do not get ruined, but get a good cleaning
