Its not..There are a billion words (lol not really) in the english language. I think there are probably less then 50 keywords in PHP, only 15 of which are probably needed for 80% of your programs. But PHP can look pretty darn ugly which I can assume would make you think its complicated.

Also, if youre a first time programmer, then most languages will feel complex :DDont worry, it gets easier real quickly. I think the best thing to keep in mind is that for every line of PHP you write, the computer makes a bajillion lines of 0s and 1s. Putting things in perspective can make complex tasks easier to deal with : p.
