Michel Barnier said that the Yes vote for Brexit was a misguided Nostalgia for a so called golden age when the UK had an empire. What do you think of this comment?
Maybe Mr. Barnier should look closer to home at his boss, Guy Verhofstadt, who at the (Il)Liberal Democrat conference this week said that The world order of tomorrow is a world of empires and then used China and The Russian Federation as a successful examples of modern empires. This week has seen Mr. Verhofstadt pontificate at the LibDem conference, the Luxembourg PM (who represents less that 0.12% of the EU population) insults our Prime Minister and, by extension, the United Kingdom, and Jo Swinson vows she would cancel article 50 if she ever got into power (!)If Mr. Barnier is so dismissive of the UK and its popular vote to leave the Empire of Europe (now, formally, the EE), he should perhaps just let us get on with it instead of trying desperately to punish us or making it impossible to reach a deal because the terms are so pernicious. You dont want a deal? Fine! Most people I know are fine leaving without one.And I have a further message to the MPs who voted for the Surrender Bill: Help Boris Johnson get on with implementing Brexit, or get out of the way. Youve had your marching orders after the referendum. You have no mandate to hold things up any longer

Do the majority of Chinese people hold anti-religious views? Why or why not?Im Chinese Canadian but I hold some anti-religious views. Not in terms of hate toward any group of people but I just think that in 2019 religion is seriously a lost cause. There are many Chinese immigrants working in STEM fields and I think that contributed to the anti-religious views. No one would go as far to confront other people obviously but I wouldnt be surprised if they even look down on people who are religious. Also there are a lot of Chinese people who go to church but are actually in fact looking for a networking session for their businesses. As a freshman in college with a little bit of scientific literacy I can tell you that in physics you will learn that there are stars in the sky older than billions of years old. In geology there are formations older than hundreds of millions years old and in biology you learn the observations of darwin and the naturally occuring events of speciation. In chemistry you learn that elements come from other elements and mastery of control in producing these results you can turn gas into solid gold.It becomes nature for one to distance themselves from religious teachings.

What metrics would you use to measure success in life?I have a concept of the meaning of life and meeting the goals to have a meaningful existence are the metrics I use to measure success in life. This is not something like to be a mid-level executive by the time you are thirty. These goals are the foundation of a meaningful existence which makes existing worthwhile. Remember, in a thousand years, no one will ever know you existed. There will not even be a computer record that you were ever here unless the word, u201cTheu201d is in your name (example: Catherine the Great). What metrics do I use to measure success in life? On your deathbed, three questions will pass through your mind. Did I do something? Did I have fun? Did I leave my mark on the world? When you can answer yes to all three questions, you have had a meaningful existence and that provides a reason to have existed in a world where in a thousand years no one will know you were ever here. You exist to have a meaningful life. Beyond that, there is nothing beyond dogma to justify your existence

Do you think Indiau2019s economy really collapsed under Manmohan Singh?I am not an expert in economics but i will put forward my opinion.First thing is who are we referring to in the question, Dr Manmohan Singh, the FM or Dr. Manmohan Singh, the PM.Dr. Manmohan Singh, the FM was the person who actually gave a new life to the indian economy during the time of big trouble in the global scenario. Collapse is a word in complete contrast to what he did then.Under first tenure of Dr. Manmohan Singh, PM, the economy was going good, but by his second tenure, the trouble started. There were global recession then too. The GDP growth rate dipped to less than 5% and the common man had to face the wrath of high inflation rate with sky rocketing prices of onions, pulses and other commodities. Things were bad. But still, I feel collapse is an exaggeration of that situation but it was a very bad time

What stances has the Modi government taken to stop corruption in India?Modi did nothing. He just replaced or gave power to other mafia groups. Groups who supported him . Predominantly Gujaratis. Example - Today they are the Indias largest builders (reality space) . They control urban development, municipalities officials, and of course the local political leaders . They own media houses , where all crimes are covered with beautiful stories.Nothing has changed . If you disagree, then walk out of your house and point number of things which has changed after Modi government came to power.I be happy if any ordinary citizen of India can give me one thing that has improved . Roads are in same condition . Pavements are broken . Hawkers own pavements. They pay politicians to own that bit of pavement. Indian Police still protects the criminals . People are forced to walk on roads. Residential areas are converted into commercial areas.
Goons still rule our parliament. Fake news still cover up crime and keeps people happyPls show me give me motherhood statement. Show me a change that Modi bought to my life . My answer is nothing

What events led to the Vietnam War?To be as brief as possible: Ho Chi Minh declared independence after the Japanese were defeated in 1945. France, displaying its usual chutzpah, felt entitled to hold on to its colonies after losing to Hitler in 6 weeks, and so refused to do the honorable thing and get out. After the French got their asses handed to them at Dien Bien Phu, the Geneva Accords called for a national election. Eisenhower knew that Ho would win that election, and so exercised the option of dividing the country and initiating the process of putting a series of bad/incompetent/crooked dictators in the south, and backing them up with a handful of American advisors. Succeeding presidents upped the ante with more American advisors, then troops. For all the good Eisenhower did, and except for two major foreign policy errors (Guatamela & Iran), he did pretty well. But he made a major blunder in giving us the domino theory. But I stray from your question

Who are the most underrated U.S presidents that did a lot for the country?Obama:So many people did not like Obama and disrespected him just because of his color. They fail to see the good things he did for this country.Operation Neptune Spear:This is one of the greatest accomplishments during the Obama administration. For those of you who dont know, Operation Neptune Spear was the eventual assassination of Osama Bin Laden, the founder of Al-Qaeda.Ended the 2008 Recession:In 2009, the congress approved Obamas package which involved, cutting taxes, extending unemployment benefits, and funding public work projects.Improved the Auto Industry:The government took over GM and Chrysler forcing these companies to be more fuel-efficient.
Made a Nuclear-Deal with Iran:Obama created a Nuclear Deal with Iran, where it would take them longer to manufacture a nuclear bomb, in exchange the UN lifted sanctions from 2010.Overall, Obama was one of our most underrated presidents because of his color, and many people choose to ignore the positive actions during his presidency

Which celebrities are super nice in real life and which ones arenu2019t?I haven't met a lot of celebrities. I've met a lot of writers, but they're generally only famous to people who read, and mostly only to people who read their particular genre or medium. Most writers I've met are pretty down-to-earth. The better they are, the more gracious they seem to be. Rudolfo Anaya, Dan Chaon, and Julia Alvarez especially impressed me.I met Charlton Heston once. I thought his political opinions were off the wall, to put it nicely, but he was well-mannered and, despite obviously being very tired, he took the time to talk to people patiently and to show (at least seemingly) genuine interest in them. This was just before he revealed he had Alzheimer's disease and shortly before he died. I remember thinking he seemed like any other tired old man, but he recited the biblical passage on the death of Moses and he was transformed. He was a brilliant actor, the best I've ever seen.Sometimes people, even those you find distasteful, surprise you. People are full of contradictions. He had a bit of old-school Hollywood high-class manners to him

What should be the best answer to the interview question, "How did you develop your research interest and why is it important?"If you think about this question a bit, youd realize that there is no best answer. This is a deeply personal question, and hence it is a great question to weed out fakers and pretenders. It is very easy to recognize genuine passion and competence.
A smart interviewer will listen to your answer to this question, and use your story to ask questions, poke in areas they are interested in and/or where they have tangential knowledge etc. You will get found out eventually if youre faking it.So, answer the question honestly when asked. Talk about your research interest, why you find it interesting, and what the burning questions are that drive you. Show that you give a shit about something and are worth the universitys or companys time and effort to be trained and trusted to do research

Queen Elizabeth II might be the best Queen in all of history. Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria are a close 2nd and 3rd respectively. Do you disagree and if so, why?I cannot fault the list in any way, but would like to suggest adding Boudicca (Boadicea) to the list. As Queen of the Iceni she led them against the Romans with male and female warriors, successfully reaching London - so uniting all her people in a common cause. As the widowed Quen of the tribe, she had successfully negotiated with the Romans with her husband and after his death but they broke treaty aft treaty and even whipped Boudicca in front of her people and raped her daughters so forcing rebellion. Then she became the fiery and inspiring leader of an army which was supported by other tribes and was even counselled by a couple of her Roman friends, who tried to save her life as she was such an inspirational leader

Why did the Australian Federal election held on May 18, 2019 produce such a surprising result? The pollsters got it wrong because they are still using essentially the same methodology that has been used for decades. This is the age of social media and unless you are analysing what is happening on social media, you are barking up a dying tree. Asking people to participate in surveys is an absurd idea these days. Look at what they are saying on social media and you will get the truth. The reason for me was that not enough people were sufficiently confident that Labor would do a better job than the Lib-Nats.They also got it so ridiculously wrong in Queensland where they talked about things voters were not interest in and not what they were interested in - jobs security.
To me, it was not surprising. I certainly predicted the outcome because Labor didnt present a sufficiently compelling case to make enough people make the switch
