Neighbors are neighbors, theyu2019re not your friends or family thatu2019s why they are called u201cneighborsu201d. Whenever you feel comfortable to smile or wave, go ahead. Some people are just nosey and like to talk to everybody and donu2019t understand that sometimes other people donu2019t feel the same need to wave to everyone and their mother.
Someone else did have a good point in their answer that if you took the energy to wave what would you think or feel but again, some people arenu2019t intuitive enough to know when to wave or not to wave and I think that is actually pretty rude to not be attentive to that so one could argue thatu2019s not really your problem. Being rude is so subjective that itu2019s literally taking on other peopleu2019s issues and making it your own. If you want a carefree life, donu2019t think about this another minute.
