It is too early to predict the outcome of 2019 election. We also remember that Congress has an amazing capability to bounce back from ashes. It came back from 1977 debacle, 1989 humiliation and drubbing on late 90s.
It would be foolish to underestimate Congress. But this time it seems very difficult for Congress. They just won 44 seats and they failed to win even 10 seats from any state in 2014.
They have not captured any state except Punjab after 2014. Congress seems to be very enthusiastic about Gujrat but it is still Modis election to lose. Congress has been wiped out of UP & Bihar.
It has hardly any significant presence in AP, Tamil Nadu, Orrisa etc. It is still down & out in Maharashtra & Kerala. The most important thing would be the grand alliance.
Who would be the leader and which all parties would for the alliance would play an important role. Congress SP BSP RLD would be a formidable force in UP. Congress AAP have potential to demolish BJP in Delhi.
Congress DMK AIADMK can sweep Tamil Nadu. But I dont think that all anti-BJP parties would form a grand alliance under leadership of Rahul Gandhi. And in case Rahul Gandhi becomes leader of combined opposition, then it would be Modi v/s Rahul and BJP would love that.
Only Modi has potential to stop himself. Modi has the sharpest political brain in India and I am sure that he may come up with something unexpected to foil the grand alliance plan

How are George W. Bush and Barack Obama related?
They are 10th cousins, as described below:u201cBarack Obama often makes a joke in his campaign speeches about a genealogical survey last year that found he is a distant cousin of Dick Cheney. Now there is double bad news for Obama: a new survey out today found he is related to George Bush as well.Researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, founded in 1845, said Obama, the son of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Kenya, can call six US presidents his cousins: both Bushes, Ford, Johnson, Truman and James Madison.
u201du201cObama and President Bush are 10th cousins, once removed, linked by Samuel Hinkley of Cape Cod, who died in 1662. Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, linked by Edwin Hickman, who died in Virginia in 1769. Clinton and Jolie are ninth cousins, twice removed, both related to Jean Cusson who died in Quebec in 1718.
u201dSource: Obama and Bush - cousins?Weu2019ve joked in my family about u201cCousin Baracku201d, per the fact that some of the former presidentu2019s ancestors hail from Moneygall, and some of mine hail from Roscrea - which is only 8.5 miles away, and per the fact that Ireland has some long winters.
And so - since this would have occurred long before the days of the Internet - or even TV or radio - who knows?(Yes, Iu2019m joking - but who know by how much?)And credit to the village of Moneygall - they certainly own the relationship with their favorite, albeit distant, relation.

Would you prefer Richard Nixon or Donald Trump to be President?
Nixon. And itu2019s not even close.
Nixon actually grew up as a real human being, on the edge of poverty. Trump was a silver-spoon-fed rich daddyu2019s uncontrollable brat. Nixon was smart enough to get through Law School at Duke and popular enough to be elected President of the Duke Bar Association.
Trump was sleezed into a new Real Estate program at Penn through family connections, as a transfer from Fordham in his Junior year. No advanced degree. And practically no one from Penn remembers him.
Nixon worked his way up and understood politics. He learned it the usual way, being elected to Congress and the Senate. He was smart.
Trump cheated his way through life, and while heu2019s kind of a savant in sales, heu2019s an idiot in most other areas. That may be because he truly doesnu2019t understand anything, or it may be that heu2019s simply such a narcissist he doesnu2019t believe he need to understand complex issue like geopolitics, science, economics, etc. Nixon was very good at walking the line between political ideologies and actually getting things done.
Mostly good things, though of course, as history has shown, he had plenty of dark side. Trump is so bad at being President, his main obstruction toward progress is his own torpedoing of every issue with a Tweet. Add to that the fact that Trump is so easily manipulated by those close to him u2014 Bannon at the start, now Miller and Kelly.
Give me Dick!Dave Haynie's answer to Is Trump going to be another Richard Nixon?

Michael:Honestly, in my lifetime, Ive never seen a scenario comprised of more guilty parties than the housing crisis of 08.Show me an innocent party?GWB, Barney Frank & Chris Dod (I.
E. - The Federal Govt) - In interpreting the American dream for Americans. i.
e. - owning a home and in forcing on the banks innapropriate quota incentives for making home loans.Guilty!
Wall St. - In packaging up garbage loans (125% LTV?) and shoveling it off on anyone stupid enough to not look inside the CBMS (commercial backed mortgage security).
Guilty! The Banks - For throwing Fiduciary responsibility to the wind and writing innapropriate loans to consumers and not taking the time to explain the fine print (I. E - an ARM (adjustible rate mortgage) will significantly adjust upward along with your payment!
)guilty!Rating Agencies (Moodys & Standard & Poors) - This is perhaps the worst of the worst as it could have all been stopped right here if someone just had the will! For giving superior ratings to CBMS filled with garbage/over leveraged loans.
Guilty!Lastly, Consumers - duped home buyers. In America, the rule of law prevails!
Take personal responibility! If youre putting / signing your name on the contract, make sure you know what youre signing. make sure you understand the consequences.

How do you settle young children (age 5 ish) into bed when they're scared of their room?
I think you need to get paper and make a list of concerns together and draw pictures. This gives your child confidence that you are taking his/her concerns seriously. I believe a child of that age is less afraid of monsters, etc.
and may rather not want go to bed or be separated from you. Deal with any specifics things that can be adjustedu2026adding a night light, add soft soothing music, for my granddaughter I got her a sleeping mask to help her brain turn off so she could go to sleep ( light affects her), change the sleeping routineu2026read a book together, etc. If it is actually anxiety there are many things you can do including reading books about the topic plus empowering activities.
I see suggestions in other comments. If you get down to the fact that it is about not wanting to go to bed, you can set up a positive behavior chart. Talk together and decide what would be a special thing your child would like to DO together, not a toy to separate your time even more.
Set a reasonable goal ( quickly attained, at first and then gradually harder to achieve) with clear expectations. ( in bed at 8, read together and then lights out). The goal is to reset the routine of bedtime and reward it.
Remember this is a positive incentive. There are no penalties. If it is achieved a sticker goes in a chart.
If not achieved, no sticker and no lecturing. Try again the next day with a positive pep talk after dinner

Should humans wipe out all carnivorous animals so the succeeding generations of herbivores can live in peace?
No.
Predators are essential in our ecosystem. They keep the prey animals healthy by taking down the weak and the old, and exert top-down regulation to improve the health and diversity of all animals and plants below. Even streams and rivers can benefit.
Predators killing preys is actually quite humane. It is usually done quickly and painlessly, because predators couldn't afford to waste energy doing it slowly. The adrenaline running in the prey also renders the kill painless most of the time.
On the other hand, we humans cannot say the same about the animals we raise in our factory farms and kill in the name of food. The following is sworn testimony from meat workers in the US:"He's been skinned all the way to his head. His legs have been cut off.
and he's still conscious. Imagine being hit on the head, dazed but fully conscious. One of your legs is chained.
You're hoisted upside down . Workers open the hide on the legs, the stomach, the neck. They cut off the feet while the cow is breathing.
It makes noise. It's looking around. Their eyes look like they are popping out.
I feel bad that I have to do my job on them. ."And so it is easy for us to save many animals from suffering by becoming vegans.
Each of us would save about 100 animals from suffering each year. Being vegans is also the healthiest, according to scientific studies:Comparison of Nutritional Quality of the Vegan, Vegetarian, Semi-Vegetarian, Pesco-Vegetarian and Omnivorous Diet.

Do you think Jacinda Ardern, prime minister elect of New Zealand, will do a good job?
Let me lay out some background before I comment. I come from a family of teachers and Labour voters. In 1984 a Labour government was elected, that proceeded to govern like archetypal neoliberals.
There was a good case for political reform but not at the pace of the Lange government. This was followed by nine years of even more socially damaging rule by the National Party. Unions were gutted and beneficiaries punished.
The only good thing that came out of their term was that the country changed the electoral system to proportional representation.Helen Clark did her best to mitigate the damage of the previous nine years, but her hands were tied by both her coalition partners and the imperative to make a budget surplus.I defy anyone to enunciate John Keys political philosophy - he didn't have one.
He did respond well to the GFC, but members of his cabinet did a lot social damage on his watch. On to Jacinda Ardern. In these days of hard right governments who seem to think that the more extreme the better, New Zealand is extremely fortunate to have a leader that cares about people.
Government policy is there to help everyone, in particular those who are born less fortunate. She is smart, compassionate and funny. Most politicians come across as automatons, she is a real person.
Put it this way - of all the politicians in the world, she is the only one I would invite for the pleasure of her company
